Boriqua Report post Posted May 14, 2015 I am putting together a weaver order and looked at the pasted Flesh shoulders but have some questions I cant seem to find answers too. Will the pasted side accept dye? Will the pasted side interfere with water absorption making boning a problem? I have never used pasted back leather so any warnings would be great. Thank you ALex
Troy I Report post Posted May 14, 2015 The only problems with pasted back leather that I have had is when trying to glue the backs together...the contact cement would not hold--I had to sand and rough it up a bit for it to adhere, also the pasted backs would not except dye as well and was always lighter in color than the hair side of the leather. No problems boning.
Art Report post Posted May 14, 2015 Usually, leather of any quality doesn't need pasting. If the flesh is all stringy, it is usually an "economy piece of leather. If the flesh side is going to be exposed and does not come up to your standards, you can paste it yourself after you have dyed it. Pasting right from the factory is ok for something you are going to use natural or dyed from the tannery. Art
