Members 4knights Posted September 9, 2015 Members Report Posted September 9, 2015 Howdy folks, I'm sure some of you have done this or come across it in the past. I have a client who wants me to make a few knife sheaths with the flesh side out to get it a rough look. My only problem is I'm worried about it fading with sun and rain exposure. So, how would I go about protecting it? Would I apply a few coats of leather sheen or gum trag or resolene? Or do I just leave it as is? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks Blue Skies, Quote
Members dikman Posted September 9, 2015 Members Report Posted September 9, 2015 Seems to me that if he wants a "rough look" then leave it as is, so that it will gradually acquire a nice used look about it. Quote
Members cgleathercraft Posted September 9, 2015 Members Report Posted September 9, 2015 Agree with dikman Try a few finishes to see what you get. Rough-out will age nicely with use. Sun and rain will only cause an issue if it's never used and just laying around outside. Quote
