indidana Report post Posted September 27, 2015 I'm horrible at shading/shadowing. What tool is best to do this skull? I've been using craftool B200 to bevel but obviously don't want to use it for shading the entire thing. I thought about P206, a pear shader with no markings on it but I don't like the way it makes the skull look. Help!!
Red Bear Haraldsson Report post Posted September 28, 2015 Two different tools for different things.Bevelers are for making one side of a cut stand out from the other, pear shaders are for making depressions within the borders of an object.Your work looks just fine to me. Just need a little more practice smoothing the bevel marks out so they do not show the individual tool impressions. It will come in time, especially with how much I see you practice here. Bob Blea Report post Posted September 28, 2015 One thing I would recommend is using a checker matter or a backgrounder in the eye sockets. That will make them darker and make them recede from the face, giving your carving more depth.
