indidana Posted September 27, 2015 Report Posted September 27, 2015 I'm horrible at shading/shadowing. What tool is best to do this skull? I've been using craftool B200 to bevel but obviously don't want to use it for shading the entire thing. I thought about P206, a pear shader with no markings on it but I don't like the way it makes the skull look. Help!! Quote
Members Red Bear Haraldsson Posted September 28, 2015 Members Report Posted September 28, 2015 Two different tools for different things.Bevelers are for making one side of a cut stand out from the other, pear shaders are for making depressions within the borders of an object.Your work looks just fine to me. Just need a little more practice smoothing the bevel marks out so they do not show the individual tool impressions. It will come in time, especially with how much I see you practice here. Quote

That will make them darker and make them recede from the face, giving your carving more depth. Quote
