Members RichardLee Posted October 6, 2015 Members Report Posted October 6, 2015 Question: I have made a couple leather book covers recently and have tooled/carved them both. I am now unsure of the weight that I used and would like to ask what is the minimum weight for a tooled/carved book cover that you all would recommend? Thanks for the advice! -Rich Quote
Contributing Member JLSleather Posted October 6, 2015 Contributing Member Report Posted October 6, 2015 Gonna depend on how big the notebook is. For small -- like maybe 8: x 6", then about 6 oz will be enough. As they get larger, then I go up in weight. For over 12", and a 3-ring binder, I like 7/8 oz with a 2 oz (ish) lining. Quote
Members Colt W Knight Posted October 6, 2015 Members Report Posted October 6, 2015 I don't like to go heavy on book covers because heavier weight leather will rip the book binding apart. I like about 5 ounce stuff. Quote
