The other model referred to in this thread is available on eBay for about $133 USD, but I am sure the conversion to your pound would be much different since it comes from the land with a long wall. The current price is $375.00. The owner, Mr. Mechling, I think, was great to deal with. He answered questions, gave me measurements, etc. Gross and fine adjustments for thickness and angle are very easy on the SF. It appears to be a far more refined tool than the one on the other thread people have been talking about, FWIW.

Members soccerdad Posted December 12, 2015 Members Report Posted December 12, 2015 I"ve practiced on it and used it on a couple of veg-tan bags. It works well in this relatively limited experiencel. The only issue has been that dragging veg-tan through it sometimes marks the show side. I fixed this by covering the roller with a thin suede. Perhaps it would not mark all leathers??
Members squeezy Posted December 14, 2015 Author Members Report Posted December 14, 2015 (edited) Thanks all for the replies.I've been looking for one coming up on ebay for the last couple of years.They seem to come up more frequently in US than in Europe.Importing from US isnt that practical given the customs (25% of total) and shipping charges.Now that I'm more determined to get into making bellows and other leather parts for my instruments, I'd like to acquire a good skiver soon, and so waiting for ebay won't fit my timescales.So I will have bite the bullet and buy a new one.The Cowboy Skiver from China looks interesting - I wonder what it's like though?
