Which W&c Leathers Are These?

Recommended Posts

I requested a sample swatch from Wickett and Craig and there were these swatched in a separate keychain by themselves that were unlabelled.

Does anyone know which of their line of leathers these are?

They are all quite firm and very oily.

I've been unable to get a hold of W&C to inquire.

Those colors are only available (except special order) in English Bridle and Oiled Latigo, and just from the look, it isn't Oiled Latigo. Those swatches are old, they now put the type of leather on them between the color and Wickett & Craig imprints.

Forgot to mention that there is also a Dark Brown piece.

So I have another set that has English Bridle stamped on them and they feel drastically different compared to these.

The english brides feel sort spongy and squishy, while these have no squishiness at all and are very oily on the surface.

English Bridle is not spongy or squishy, not at all in the 5 pieces I have, it is very firm strap leather. English Bridle is not oily, Show Harness and the Oiled Latigo can be oily, and the Harness tends to be shiny. Dk Brown would kind of confirm it is English Bridle (the non squishy variety).

Thanks for posting these observations, Art. It confirms that the W&C leather I picked up from a closed business is English Bridle. Very helpful.
