Just a dumb question....

Would one of you cowboy gear savvy type please explain to this city gal what's the difference, and the purpose of each?

generally, chaps are full length leggings that protect the rider from rain ,snow brush, cactus, etc. Chinks are popular where the brush is more sparse and you jeans won't get torn up, it's hot weather, and the leather still protects and cushions the rope across your thigh when roping, and pulling.

I've worn mostly chinks in Nevada in the summer but I still tucked my pants into my 16" tops.

I DID have a girl ask me to make her chaps once.

She pronounced it: CHaps" rather than sshhhaps.

I told her to lick her lips real good and stand out in the wind for awhile.
