SouthernCross Report post Posted January 23, 2016 What are some of your favorite borders for your basketweave stamping? I'd love to see pictures, too.

SouthernCross Report post Posted February 13, 2016 I like that, snubby. Can you tell me what you used as a finish on that sheath, please?
snubbyfan Report post Posted February 13, 2016 That's actually just a test piece. I used Eco-Flo chestnut hi-lite color stain. With a top coat of Tan-Kote.
SouthernCross Report post Posted February 14, 2016 (edited) Cool! I just used some of that today in saddle tan I believe it's called. Did you use any resist on the lighter spots? Edited February 14, 2016 by SouthernCross
snubbyfan Report post Posted February 14, 2016 (edited) No I didn't but next time I get my orders caught up, I have some ideas. I'm thinking of dying a basketweave stamped holster with saddle tan, trying a coupla coats of Tan-Kote as a resist, using some Feibings Antique Finish paste, then another coat of Tan-Kote as a finish. If it turns out well, I'll get some pictures, then it's up for sale. Edited February 14, 2016 by snubbyfan
SouthernCross Report post Posted February 14, 2016 That sounds interesting. I really need to start mixing more colors and trying different things. I still have this "no-no" in my head from my days as a house painter about not mixing water-based and oil-based stuff. Apparently it doesn't necessarily work that way with leather, huh? Bob Blea Report post Posted February 15, 2016 (edited) Here's a belt I did recently. The basket and the border are Barry King stamps. Edited February 15, 2016 by Bob Blea

Boriqua Report post Posted March 10, 2016 (edited) That is really nice bob .. Depending on the project sometimes I like to just let the basketweave fade out and not hem it in with a border although the stitching acts as a border on these but it just fades top and bottom Edited March 10, 2016 by Boriqua
SouthernCross Report post Posted March 11, 2016 Boriqua, that is beautiful! Would you share your dying/finishing process with us, please? Stunning! And yes, I like how you didn't hem it in with a border.
brmax Report post Posted March 11, 2016 Boriqua, that top kicks! both weaves really work good. got a close up on the lower stamp pretty cool design there also. Bob, thanks for sharing that, I am trying to get a handle on these with a few tool choices along the way appreciate it. Snubbyfan, great work man I checked out some videos and wanted to ask about a no. or name on the weave pattern above. I think that outer is the same as one of several of the vids I watched earlier so great work there. Now I see the center v type, don't want to push my luck here but same ? you mind sharing a no. on that center V or is it just a way you make that with another custom. Thanks you all Floyd
brmax Report post Posted March 11, 2016 Good morning Great work there you all, I had a uh hello moment with seeing how the V was made on that photo.
