Members SouthernCross Posted January 23, 2016 Members Report Posted January 23, 2016 What are some of your favorite borders for your basketweave stamping? I'd love to see pictures, too. Quote

Members SouthernCross Posted February 13, 2016 Author Members Report Posted February 13, 2016 I like that, snubby. Can you tell me what you used as a finish on that sheath, please? Quote
Members snubbyfan Posted February 13, 2016 Members Report Posted February 13, 2016 That's actually just a test piece. I used Eco-Flo chestnut hi-lite color stain. With a top coat of Tan-Kote. Members SouthernCross Posted February 14, 2016 Author Members Report Posted February 14, 2016 (edited) Cool! I just used some of that today in saddle tan I believe it's called. Did you use any resist on the lighter spots? Edited February 14, 2016 by SouthernCross Quote
Members snubbyfan Posted February 14, 2016 Members Report Posted February 14, 2016 (edited) No I didn't but next time I get my orders caught up, I have some ideas. I'm thinking of dying a basketweave stamped holster with saddle tan, trying a coupla coats of Tan-Kote as a resist, using some Feibings Antique Finish paste, then another coat of Tan-Kote as a finish. If it turns out well, I'll get some pictures, then it's up for sale. Members SouthernCross Posted February 14, 2016 Author Members Report Posted February 14, 2016 That sounds interesting. I really need to start mixing more colors and trying different things. I still have this "no-no" in my head from my days as a house painter about not mixing water-based and oil-based stuff. Apparently it doesn't necessarily work that way with leather, huh? Quote
