Borders For Basketweave - Examples

Recommended Posts

What are some of your favorite borders for your basketweave stamping? I'd love to see pictures, too.

I like that, snubby. Can you tell me what you used as a finish on that sheath, please?

That's actually just a test piece. I used Eco-Flo chestnut hi-lite color stain.

With a top coat of Tan-Kote.

Cool! I just used some of that today in saddle tan I believe it's called.

Did you use any resist on the lighter spots?

No I didn't but next time I get my orders caught up, I have some ideas. I'm thinking of dying a basketweave stamped holster with saddle tan, trying a coupla coats of Tan-Kote as a resist, using some Feibings Antique Finish paste, then another coat of Tan-Kote as a finish.

If it turns out well, I'll get some pictures, then it's up for sale.

That sounds interesting. I really need to start mixing more colors and trying different things. I still have this "no-no" in my head from my days as a house painter about not mixing water-based and oil-based stuff. Apparently it doesn't necessarily work that way with leather, huh?

Here's a belt I did recently. The basket and the border are Barry King stamps.post-15714-0-88362800-1455558936_thumb.j

That is really nice bob .. Depending on the project sometimes I like to just let the basketweave fade out and not hem it in with a border although the stitching acts as a border on these but it just fades top and bottom

Boriqua, that is beautiful! Would you share your dying/finishing process with us, please? Stunning!

And yes, I like how you didn't hem it in with a border.

Boriqua, that top kicks! both weaves really work good. got a close up on the lower stamp pretty cool design there also.

Bob, thanks for sharing that, I am trying to get a handle on these with a few tool choices along the way appreciate it.

Snubbyfan, great work man I checked out some videos and wanted to ask about a no. or name on the weave pattern above. I think that outer is the same as one of several of the vids I watched earlier so great work there. Now I see the center v type, don't want to push my luck here but same ? you mind sharing a no. on that center V or is it just a way you make that with another custom.

Thanks you all

Floyd
