wantedleatherworks Report post Posted March 8, 2016 i thought i would put up some of my portraits i have done lately. Elvis was a test just to see how it would turn out. i was gonna use it as a sample for people to judge my ability but it sold before i could get it framed. i did frame it but did not get picture of that. Grey Drakkon Report post Posted March 8, 2016 Portraiture is TOUGH, even in traditional media. Accomplishing that in leather is no small feat! Great job!

Boriqua Report post Posted March 9, 2016 Simply amazing! I have painted portraits and it was hard enough to learn how to do that marginally well/ok. Carving it !!

Colt W Knight Report post Posted March 9, 2016 That pelican is great. Good work, people's faces are very tough to translate to leather. I have a lot of trouble doing faces.

Ulfberht Leather Works Report post Posted March 14, 2016 Yeah, portraits are the hardest thing I ever had to draw/sketch up and you just applied them to an even harder medium. Kudos to you!
Dwight Report post Posted March 14, 2016 (edited) That, indeed, is some excellent work, . . . far beyond my expertise that is for sure. BUT ! If you are interested in doing that, . . . one of the things you can do if you want to get into that type of carving, . . . use a laser printer, . . . reverse the image, . . . print it on to waxed paper, . . . lay the waxed paper onto the leather, . . . use a squeege to transfer the ink onto the leather. At least you won't then have to try to draw the image, . . . May God bless, Dwight Edited March 14, 2016 by Dwight
