hh1302 Report post Posted May 2, 2016 I would like to build a Sam Stagg skeleton-style saddle, possibly leaving the rear of the cantle exposed. But the maker--not a complaint, at all--marked the rear of the cantle with style, date, etc with a black marker. Is there a way to remove that without damaging the rawhide or varnish? Thanks, Hugh

keplerts Report post Posted September 21, 2016 I have used Mr Clean Magic Erasers on raw hide swells with great results. You could give that a try.
Goldshot Ron Report post Posted September 21, 2016 Try taking a Sharpie and mark over the lettering; and, quickly wipe it off. The ink in the permanent marker reactivates the old ink so that you can wipe it off. I've done this on other items, and white boards where someone used the wrong pin. Most of the time it does work.
