Pete, Rare earth magnets work well to hold your knife in the sheath. I have made a few sheaths with magnetic retention for customers and I am by no means the first guy to do it. It's always fun to try out new methods and techniques let us know how it turns out. Nick

Nick Thanks for the reply. If I send you the knife, would you be interested in making the sheath? pete
DCKNIVES Report post Posted December 23, 2008 Pete, alot of makers use rare earth magnets.I have used some but usually prefer not to use them for retention.I also have used them in place of snaps on flap sheaths for holding the flap down.Dave here's one with a magnetic flap If you send it to Nick, you will not be disappointed, he does fine work.
