UKRay Report post Posted December 25, 2008 it sounds like you are having a very happy day, Clay. Aside from a lot of love and happiness, my Christmas present was a set of three Al Stohlman mauls that I've been hankering after for quite a while. Oh yes, I also got a new DAB radio for the workroom as the old one hissed and spat more than it played music. I'm a very lucky man!
Jordan Report post Posted December 25, 2008 A cup of coffee and a cinnamon role fresh out of the oven. And of course an extra dose of insulin to deal with the indulgence Other than that, the knowledge that the Saviour was born, is gift enough for me. rawhide1 Report post Posted December 25, 2008 Well the girls got a wii and the boy got a remote controlled dump truck and the wife got a ipod touch. We all got clothes and a bunch of other little toys and such. One of the great moments for me besides being with family was getting my 9 y/o to believe in Santa another year. The kids at school have been saying there was no such person and she was starting to believe them. So this year I found some brass sleigh bells and the reindeer left one for each kid with a note from Santa saying three of his reindeer had been promoted and they wanted to leave their old ones to some special kids. I'm afraid she's growing up and I aint to sure I like it much. Such is life!! I hope everyone has a good Christmas and a Happy New Year!!! Mike
HorsehairBraider Report post Posted December 26, 2008 The family stated this year that everything should be handmade... well, I've been doing that for years and they have SO much of my stuff it's not funny! So this year, I learned how to do origami. I took some wrapping paper and folded origami boxes, and then I got some real nice new crisp $20.00 bills and folded them into various things: a shirt, a fan, a heart, an armadillo etc. and put them in my origami boxes. Done, and it's something they've never gotten from me before! But when I opened up mine - not ONE handmade gift! Not ONE! :wtf: Turns out everyone thinks I'm so "good" that nothing they made me would come up to snuff. Hey, it's not a contest! So I didn't even get so much as a drawing to hang on my refrigerator. tashabear Report post Posted December 26, 2008 I was a lucky girl. My mom gave me a complete new set of cookware, which means I can throw away the ratty old non-stick that's shedding Teflon. My brother-in-law was very confused as to why I was happy-dancing, but he hasn't seen how ragged those pots are. My husband was a meanie, though. No sh*t, there we were, at my mom's... I've wanted a Kitchenaid stand mixer for years, and the box under the tree was the right size, but it felt light... I opened the wrapping, and it WAS a Kitchenaid mixer! Joy! Rapture! Oh Frabjous Day! Let's open it and have a look... Wait. What the... There was a pillow, a brick, and a Kitchenaid brand spoon in Empire Red, same as on the box. He got me a Kitchenaid mixer, all right... the manual version. Ain't he a stinker? (The mixer was in the closet. We went to Mom's the night before for dinner, and he pulled the switch, with my dad's complicity, while I was out getting Chinese food.) Other than that, my in-laws again showed a near-total lack of understanding of who I am and what I'm about by giving me a glass candy dish and a gigantic ceramic bowl full of smelly-good bath stuff. Oh well. I have them held in reserve, just in case I need a generic gift. I'm not ungrateful, but even if I wanted a glass candy dish, that wouldn't be what I would choose.
