MADMAX22 Report post Posted June 29, 2016 Congrats and enjoy. Wish the 4500s came with the separate bobbin winder. Makes stitching items a heck of alot less time consuming.

They are modded as ordered. I have on order for my Singer 42-5.
mike6642 Report post Posted June 29, 2016 That's a great machine, I bought the 227 a few weeks ago, I been practicing on old belt strips, I hope you are having as much fun as I am. Instead of using the bobin winder I took the shaft and put it on cordless drill and wound 6 bobins, the drill works fast and I don't have to mess with the bobin winder, it's a personal choice. MADMAX22 Report post Posted June 30, 2016 Thanks Wiz Ill look into that or try the drill method. I usually only have one large spool of any one color (gotta get more thread) but regardless the bobbin always pops away from the tab that engages to turn it on my 4500 so I end up sitting there with slight pressure on the bobbin to keep it engaged and turning. Ive tried playing with things but it still does it about 50% of the time.
Darren Brosowski Report post Posted July 5, 2016 MADMAX22 There are three different external bobbin winders on the market and the one pictured is the mid range version. The gold coloured type is the simpler and, naturally, cheaper version. Top of the line is the ADLER type that has a worm driven arm that run the thread across the bobbin.
