superchute Report post Posted December 29, 2008 Here is a way to save some bucks with two hockey pucks make a leather maul. I used 2 pucks ,one broken hammer handle , one 8 in 5/16 bold and nut and 3 flat washers. and here is what I walked out of the shop with. It works great on belt ends and that type of stuff no shock to your hand feels good. Have to try tooling with it we will see how that work later tonight. TexasJack Report post Posted December 29, 2008 Hockey pucks are a bit rare in Texas. I'm sure it's a great idea in S. Dak., but I must say it sounds a bit odd here.

mulepackin Report post Posted December 29, 2008 You're probably correct there, Darryl!Tony. Whats the weight of that mallet?
Bob Report post Posted December 29, 2008 Russ, that's an awesome idea. Have you thought how you might ad some lead weight to the inside for heavier punch work. You can wrap that handle in leather, making it more comfortable and easier to hold. Those pucks will never wear out. Fantastic thinking.
