Members tlowry Posted August 16, 2016 Members Report Posted August 16, 2016 My wife and I are planning a trip to Dallas/Ft. Worth prob next month(Sept). She has an old friend there she hasn't seen in years. While they visit, I want to browse around at some of the local leathercrafting supplier stores. I see there are 3 Tandy's in the area. I also think I see where the Hidecrafter's is closed. Can anyone verify this and also do yall know of any other retailers that might be interesting to see. Also, what state is the Stohlman Museum in, if it still exists? Quote

Members Ed in Tx Posted August 16, 2016 Members Report Posted August 16, 2016 The Stohlman Museum is located at the Tandy Store at 1900 SE Loop 820 Bldg B. Fort Worth, TX 76140. This is the largest Tandy retail store in the US. Their Headquarters is next door to the store. Personally I don't buy any leather from Tandy, what they call their top of the line tooling leather is basically junk from South America. I recently needed a piece of 7/8 oz tooling leather in a hurry so I went and looked at what they had. Needless to say I didn't buy any, the top of the line "Oak Leaf" looked like rejects from a tannery. They are bleached white in order to cover flaws in the hide. Quote
