Members teaz247 Posted September 14, 2016 Members Report Posted September 14, 2016 could someone PLEASE explain to me how to achieve this deep purple color. I absolutely love it, and I also love the fade 8ntonwhat I'm assuming is black! Any help will be greatly appreciated. thank you Quote
bikermutt07 Posted September 14, 2016 Report Posted September 14, 2016 This is kind of an educated guess. Fiebings mahogany oil dye , diluted, then airbrushed. I haven't airbrushed anything and I haven't achieved that color with mahogany yet. But I continue to try. Quote
Members teaz247 Posted September 14, 2016 Author Members Report Posted September 14, 2016 I tried mahogany and burgundy and airbrushed the edges but it didn't satisfy me I used regular dye diluted. Quote
bikermutt07 Posted September 14, 2016 Report Posted September 14, 2016 Burgundy??? Is that your lighter color? If it is I have been trying to get that color with, well, the wrong color. Quote
Members teaz247 Posted September 14, 2016 Author Members Report Posted September 14, 2016 yeah burgundy, diluted and airbrushed in multiple layers. then black airbrushed from the outside edge working my way in. I want it to be more of the purplish hue. I've even though possibly maroon or oxblood Quote
Members Red Bear Haraldsson Posted September 14, 2016 Members Report Posted September 14, 2016 Straight oxblood is real purple-y to me. Maybe a drop or three in the burgundy will get you closer? Quote
Members teaz247 Posted September 14, 2016 Author Members Report Posted September 14, 2016 awesome I will try that. I like how deep the holster looks and how the finish appears wet. the sheath I done is finished with mop n global but couldn't achieve the glossy look Quote
Members Red Bear Haraldsson Posted September 14, 2016 Members Report Posted September 14, 2016 Awesome! I don't really want the glossy look for the things I am currently working on. Quote
Members Windrider30 Posted September 15, 2016 Members Report Posted September 15, 2016 was going to suggest maybe oxblood and burgundy mix maybe though not sure how much of each you would have to play with that but I do not airbrush so could not tell you how well that might work. Quote

I don't usually airbrush either, it was just an attempt of taking the black I to the burgundy color. Quote
