ugh another the world has gone mad moment

Recommended Posts

So I ran to my local Lowes to buy a can of weldwood which I  have been buying without incident for say oh 25 years. Today they hand me a book and I have to give them my name and address, signature and I have to write what I intend to do with the glue in order for the gentleman to remove it from the cage so I could purchase it .... WHAT!!!!????

Some days I am glad I am reaching life expectancy because the world has gone crazy.

Yeah, me too.   Sanding oak floors today.  Not that i have time to sand floors, but today is when we could rent the floor sander -- and I'm NOT paying that goober $3200 to do what I can do myself in a morning.

"Everybody" says he does nice work, so got him over here.  Bedrooms already been done - just need the main room and hallway.  When I asked why so much for so little area, he says ya gotta take off all the base trim, casings, etc.  But when I asked how much if that's already done (which it already was for painting) the price didn't drop all that much

Wickett / Craig bundle showed up in the middle of the floor sanding.  Haven't opened it yet - until the dust settles...

Did you inquire as to why the need for the info for a can of glue?  Or did they think that maybe at your age your sniffing the stuff or giving it to little kiddies?  Seems like a bunch of bs for a can of glue!

I started out giving him a really hard time and was about to walk out but then realized I was taking it out on some 19 yr old who I am sure didnt have anything to do with it, probably didn't even want to be there and I was so sure had no desire to deal with the angry grey hair so I laughed it off, apologized to him for taking it out on him and left.

Funny thing is I remember back in the bad old days of NYC when they used to snort that stuff from bags in the back of the city bus. This is late 60,s early 70's. I was just a kid and I thought it was stupid and gross then! Dont think its a habit I will be starting soon.

So after leaving I go to get in my car and right there next to the shopping cart storage area is a hypodermic needle and a little tinfoil packet. I figured I would be a good guy and go back into the store to tell someone seeing as how a Target just got sued for an accident with a hypo in the parking lot. I was ignored. Sigh

It's amazing how all of us gray haired people survived before all these government regulations....hope the kids growing up now are as lucky as we were.

I guess big brother knows best..NOT!!!!

This kind of BS just P@##$% me off.

:bike:Maybe they should make you sign a waiver and pass a test to ride a bicycle too.

Ya now they are huffing or puffing crap that you wouldn't even think about getting high on, not to mention all the bad drugs going around.  Things certainly haven't gotten any better, if fact they are worse.  I commented a while back, and in a different post obviously that you and I are about that the same age, but it is truly sad when we hear about all of the bad stuff going on now that is much worse than it was 40 years ago when we had the hippie movement, but oh well this will just go off center.  To bad they didn't send someone out to pick it up.

50 years ago (cough cough).

My wife had a little schooling from the school board thus past year.

Topic: what the kids are getting high on.

A few things stuck in my head from when she shared.

One was eye shots. Kids taking shot glasses with vodka and putting it in their eyes.

The other one I remember involved tampons and vodka. To which the administers admitted was not a problem exclusively with female students.
