Members Prusty Posted October 19, 2016 Members Report Posted October 19, 2016 Made an account some while back but never got round to posting anything. I'm Thomas, from Leeds in the UK, and have been doing leatherwork for maybe 4 years, but only got serious in the past year and a half. Done almost only 12th/13th Century reenactment stuff, all of it inspired by finds from that period of history, and a few semi-replica pieces for fun like the knife sheath in the photo. I'm trying to get into more modern stuff which is a bit daunting for me! I've done some here and there over the past few years, but its all been a bit rough and unfocused, so I'm really trying to push myself to improve. I'm looking forward to learning from everyone here! Thanks for looking! Quote
bikermutt07 Posted October 19, 2016 Report Posted October 19, 2016 Pretty stuff. Quote I'm not paying 80 bucks for a belt!!! It's a strip of leather. How hard could it be? 4 years and 3 grand later.... I have a belt I can finally live with. Stitching is like gravy, it's only great if you make it every day. From Texas but in Bossier City, Louisiana.
Members Tugadude Posted October 21, 2016 Members Report Posted October 21, 2016 Very nice items. Only one thing and I'm sure it is just personal preference, but while I often like white thread, I think black would work better on the pieces you've shown. But the execution is great. Keep on posting! Quote
Members DJole Posted October 22, 2016 Members Report Posted October 22, 2016 Nice work! My own interests in design and style match what you've done here, and I like it. That knife sheath is lovely! As far as execution and workmanship, nothing seems to be out of place there, either. Quote \D. Jole \ --> <http://djole.altervista.org/djole/Publications/Leather/Lindex.htm>
Members HobbledCobbler Posted October 25, 2016 Members Report Posted October 25, 2016 Wow! I really like those pieces! I hope I can learn to do some nice work like that! Quote
Members HavenHillJay Posted October 31, 2016 Members Report Posted October 31, 2016 Very nice looking work. What are the two cylinders in the second picture? Quote
