What is this?

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys, Going through an old box with Misc. tools and such. Found this tweezer/cutter/ Don't know what it is thingamajig. I searched on several sites with no luck. Thought maybe for fly tying? It's light duty, stainless, no name or stamp on it anywhere. Does not seem to be any type of scissors?

The tips look like the tips on sheet metal nipper shears, only smaller. That would be my guess, for cutting detailed sheet metal pieces, perhaps for jewellery. These type of nippers are used with thin sheet metals because they don't distort the material like tin snips.

Could they be a nipper and crimper for small telephone wire work?

As Gary said.  It's a surgical staple remover.  Still widely used by Vets.

Surgical staples could easily be used for many purposes in leather working now that i think of it .....I mean flesh is flesh.
