Time to Upgrade my Swivel Knife - Midrange ($50-100ish) recommendations?

Recommended Posts

I'm sure the answers will vary like crazy but...

I'm looooong overdue to upgrade my swivel knife - It's just a basic Tandy model that I've used over the past years. I strop and care for it religiously and make it work well for me but... Time for something nicer. Current blade measures about 3/8" wide and I want something ideally 1/4" or so instead.

In your opinion(s).... Best swivel knife I can buy around that $50-100 range? I'm not married to those numbers though, that's just what's floating in my head. Ideally something I don't have to jump on a year-long waitlist for too.

Thanks in advance!

Beret,

This may sound a little crazy but you can use 1/4" drive deep wall sockets to test what size you like.  If you don't have a set you can find them easily at hardware or big box stores,  Select those sockets with outside diameters close to the barrel sizes of the BK swivel knives.  Imagine them as swivel knife barrels and rotate them between your thumb and finger.  Try different sizes to see what feels best to you.  Naturally the sockets won't have the knurled finish but it'll still be helpful.

If you have the time, its better than blowing $50 then determining you hate the size you purchased.

Thanks guys. I ordered the BK knife last week. I appreciate the input! Was supposed to be here Saturday, but it's that time of year for USPS to implode.. So I should have it in hand within the next couple of days!
