barbedwireboutique Report post Posted December 31, 2016 So I bought a chap/chink pattern pack from Tandy and was wondering the best way to alter it for a youth? I was wanting to build a pair for my 3 yr old, so the size difference is pretty significant. Is it better to just use a pair of his worn out jeans and cut them to make a pattern? The part that really need to know is the yokes.
Ferg Report post Posted December 31, 2016 My fix may be more complicated than you wish to pursue but it works. Since you have a pattern for adult obviously, measure a portion of the pattern that would pertain to the same on the 3 yr old. Divide the smaller dimension by the larger (your Tandy pattern), that will give you a percentage you need to work with. Take the Tandy pattern to Office Depot or some other place having the capability to print. Tell them to print the drawing/pattern the percentage you came up with above. Works for me.
