Hey everyone,

New to the forum and leatherwork amateur. I was looking for some feedback and constructive criticism on my latest creation. It's a tobacco pipe roll for my dad.

It looks very solid. It should last him forever. I like your take on the closure.

Cool.

Any pics of the inside?

I'm not paying 80 bucks for a belt!!! It's a strip of leather. How hard could it be? 4 years and 3 grand later.... I have a belt I can finally live with.

Stitching is like gravy, it's only great if you make it every day.

Thanks. I feel like my stitching and cutting could be better. And it wouldn't let me post multiple for some reason. Haha.

Welcome to the forums.  You are off to a good start.  Would like to see the pouch opened up.

looks like you scribed some lines to ensure the stamped pattern stayed straight.  Try to keep back from the corners next time and the crossed lines won't be there.  Also, try to smooth your edges a bit more.  Lots of threads here.  Your stitching, what I can see, looks pretty good.  More pictures would help.

Did you want to put a finish on the roll?  Looks to be natural veg tan.

Keep up the good work!

Yes I kept it natural. My burnishing definitely needs work. Haha. I have one comment on here with another photo of the inside. Thanks for the input!!

It will come with time, research, and practice. The inside looks good too.

My only critique is this..... While it is cool use of space, I see the pipe cleaners becoming a pain in their current placement. I would move them to a pocket.

Ooh, I got an idea. Make two short sleeves across the flap that they could span across.

Yeah I ran into a few oopsie daisies and had to make things work. Haha. Wasn't sure how to add a spot on the flap without seeing stitching or rivets. This way the rivets were hidden by the strap when closed. I actually had to take the punch off of my punch plyer things and hammer the hole for the pipe cleaner retainer. Haha.
