good upgrade from the LU562

I'm using the Awntex only because the customer said get the best you can buy..and supposedly this is just a tad better than Phifertex.  90% UV blockage.  Wants to keep the sun of his new SeaRay.  Trivantage was the source.  I didn't heat cut it either.

The long-arm Adler 220 style machines (also Consew 744, Singer 144) have even bigger bobbins. Those machines run $4-5K used. True monsters. I could barely lift up one end of the machine head high enough to get them off the ground and onto a dolly.

Rough bobbin size comparison:

Juki 562= 1x

Juki 1508= 2x

DA 867 (XXL option)= 2.7x

Adler 220 = 4.5x

Gregg characterizes the differences:

In your assessment of a used Juki lu-1508,  presumed to be in good to excellent working condition and could probably be altered to match many of the  characteristic advantages of the H model upgrade, what do you think is a fair price to pay for just the head??

Wholesale typically is 20% and hardly ever over 30-40%.  So anything your happy with below these new retail price range.

I have found more importantly in sales of any not new or new old stock items are the persons interested. These buyers no matter what have their own point they will take a serious pause. 

If they the buyers have a legit use, personally! the price can go as you know crazy hi

Very few of the normal pricing guidelines apply to Hawaii. Some things are cheaper because you're much closer to the Asian manufacturers, but many things get the very-remote-island markup. 

You probably know best what new machines cost in Hawaii. Take a third off and you have fair deal on a good used machine, half off is a very good deal, two thirds off is a bargain. Much depends on the condition of the machine, as always.
