Members strathmoredesigns Posted March 1, 2017 Members Report Posted March 1, 2017 I wondered about the purity of the water, thanks for that tip! Quote
Members Colt W Knight Posted March 7, 2017 Members Report Posted March 7, 2017 (edited) I really like using the Angelus 2-thin thinner when I am airbrushing Angelus on something like a coat, cowboy boots, or a purse. Seems to flow out of the gun better(probably has a retarder to keep it from drying to quickly) . For simply coloring or hand painting, I use distilled water. I'm excited to try it with my Angelus paints in my airbrush. Have you ever airbrushed Angelus brand dyes? If so, did you cut them and with what? Quote
Members Colt W Knight Posted March 8, 2017 Members Report Posted March 8, 2017 No, I have only airbrushed Fiebings oil and conventional dyes. I have sprayed them full strength and thinned at various levels with alcohol. They spray no problem withere my Iwata brush, but clog in my cheapo brushes. Quote
Members strathmoredesigns Posted March 9, 2017 Members Report Posted March 9, 2017 Good to know. I might give it a go, I have an Iwata as well. Quote
Members Cyclist2 Posted March 25, 2017 Members Report Posted March 25, 2017 I see Tandy has Eco-Flo dyes and waterstains. What is the difference? They are both water based. I also use acrylic paint that my wife had around, seems to work OK. Is the Eco-Flo cova color any different? Thanks! Quote

Paints sit on top of the surface of the leather. They apply have different consistencies and you will apply them differently. The Eco-Flo cova color is essentially an acrylic paint, although I think there are some other organic compounds thrown in because it will grow mold if stored/sealed improperly. High quality acrylic paints will work as well, although I believe the leather-specific paints are made to be a bit more flexible. Edited March 30, 2017 by Beret Quote
