George1520 Report post Posted February 11, 2017 (edited) I'm trying to figure out is a walking foot flat bed that is able to do zig zag will be able to saw something like in the photo. Or I will have to get a cylinder or post machine. I will have to sew around the toe similar to what a Strobel sewing machine does. MADMAX22 Report post Posted February 12, 2017 Photo not in link but saw your other post. I doubt it "unless" the toe is split like the heel is, if that is the case you could sew the sole on flat then fold it up and stitch both ends but that also looks like it would require a cylinder arm or post bed machine so either way youll end up needing one. A chance if the material was very flexible and stretchy you might be able to get away with a flat bed but it would be a battle each and every time. Done several motorcycle seats that I should have been using a cylinder arm or post machine but still managed to get it done its just a pain and those werent even that bad. George1520 Report post Posted February 12, 2017 The front is split a little just but not all the way like the back. The problem is that I could not find a cylinder or post machine that will do zig zag. At least not under 5000. There is the singer 107w50 no walking foot and not sure how well it will sew suede leather. I have to get one from China and that has been a hassle
Uwe Report post Posted February 13, 2017 What you probably really need is a feed-off-the-arm zig-zag machine like the SewPro 2156 shown in the video below. They are complex specialty machines and not cheap. Sewpro is located in Ephrata, PA, a bit less of a logistical challenge than ordering directly from China. Gregg From Keystone Sewing Report post Posted February 13, 2017 See attached, this is what you are looking for, however, I am not even sure if this is in Seiko's production, and if so, it's big money for sure. Seiko SKZP Series.pdf
George1520 Report post Posted February 18, 2017 (edited) I end up getting a used post machine version of the SewPro that Uwe suggested from China. It is not made by SewPro but it is the same design. The post is a little thicker than the Seiko that's culdn't even found for sale. I hope it will last me for a couple years before getting something else.
