First photo shows a saddle where the swell was tooled before molding, versus part of the skirt that doesn't require molding.  See the difference in the crispness?

Second photo shows a swell that was stamped in place after molding. 

So which do you figure is better?

I like bottom pic. That's some incredible tooling!! Guess I won't be stamping that anymore. Don't have blue guns and definitely not using real. I can understand why those saddles used to be so expensive after getting trying to do a little leatherwork.
