Wattspd Report post Posted July 10, 2017 Where can I find Latigo straps 12-14 oz in 1/2 inch, 5/8, 3/4, 1inch widths? The longer the better. Currently I'm getting them in 84 inch lengths but I believe I can find it longer and possibly in a roll. Some K9 gear vendors offer leashes in 10 foot plus using the same material. JerseyFirefighter Report post Posted July 10, 2017 They're likely buying sides and using the longest strips on the side to make the leashes and the rest go to their other gear. If they do sell pre-cut strips like this they would be far and few between, and likely carry a premium for them.
TomG Report post Posted July 10, 2017 I have a new customer that I make custom service leads for. He requires 80", finished, and the design requires 95"+ strap lengths. I have to find leather suppliers who will do some measuring and hand selecting for me. It is a challenge. Good luck
TomG Report post Posted July 10, 2017 Oh.. Those supplying super log straps are either cutting a side in an oblong or oval, or bevelling and splicing
Wattspd Report post Posted July 10, 2017 I was thinking they are cutting sides in an unique way to get the overall length. I have a 30 foot tracking lead that I bought a few years ago that is one piece. I checked several times to see if it was spliced and it wasn't.
TomG Report post Posted July 10, 2017 Did the strap have some curvy spots? that's what you usually get when you cut on a curve. Someone told me that they thought the Amish craftsmen had a way to drag it over a ceiling joist or door and straighten them out to a degree.
