Jer Report post Posted August 29, 2017 (edited) Hello, I have finally found a fair priced Consew 206rb-3 and I'm picking it up tomorrow. I know that it has been sitting for a couple yeas and by looking at the pictures, It does show light rust on the head and I see evidence of rust on the tensioner and other parts. I am planning on cleaning it up myself so that I can save money and buy a servo motor for it. Does anyone have any advice on where to start, what to focus on and what I should avoid? Thank you in advance! Edited August 29, 2017 by Jer
Constabulary Report post Posted August 29, 2017 Machine looks very good. That's rather old dried and discolored oil than rust I´d say - try whipping it off with kerosene or the like. Download the manual and oil it accordingly. Open the faceplate and remove the needle plate and check for lint / dirt and gunk. Open the top plate and check the condition of the timing belt. Thats what I would start with.

dikman Report post Posted August 29, 2017 Yeah, looks good, no paint wear on the baseplate that I can see. Slowly rotate the wheel by hand to make sure nothing is binding and everything is moving as it should, if you feel any tightness stop and find out what it is. Remove the bobbin and make sure it's all clean in there. As Constabulary said, get a manual, must have a manual! As to what to avoid - DON'T start loosening screws until you understand what you're doing.
Constabulary Report post Posted August 30, 2017 was on the wrong track with the timing belt - 206 has a drive shaft and not a timing belt but I´m sure you figured already
Jer Report post Posted September 2, 2017 Picked up the machine last night. She initially want $350 then told me $250 when I got there. It moves really nicely. Turned it on and engaged it for a sec and it sounded wonderful. It needs to be oiled though before I start it up again , the reservoir is empty and the oil pan is full. I'm unable to locate a online manual containing oiling instructions for the rb-2, Found a rb-1 and 5 though. Hoping the local shops here in Minneapolis have one. Thank you for the replys.
