CarlosURSUS Report post Posted September 18, 2017 Hello Today I have changed the white thread on the machine for a black one (same brand and specifications) and started sewing. Then, after a few stitches, the thread "have left" the upper tension adjuster (sorry if that expression is incorrect!) causing tension loss and loops on the back of the leather. I have repeated the same steps changing tensions with te main and second tension adjusters but the result was the same: the thread "take off" the upper tension adjuster... Constabulary Report post Posted September 18, 2017 (edited) Is there a loop at the thread tension? Thread has to go through the loop before is slides between the tension discs... Just a guess. You know what I mean? EDIT: Not sure if its the same on the 3200 as on the 441 clones: Or try to play with the tension on the pre tension Unit. Wizcrafts Report post Posted September 18, 2017 You will need what we call back pressure on the top thread to counteract the twisty black thread. If your machine has a post on top with a few holes in it, run the thread around two holes to get some drag in the twisty thread. Your machine should have the little steel thread guide in front of and below the top tensuion disks. See if you can lower it by loosening its screw and pushing it down. This will give a steeper angle to the thread going into the top tensioners. The top disks do almost all of the thread tensioning. The bottom disk are just rollers. They only add a tiny amount of tension.
CarlosURSUS Report post Posted September 21, 2017 Hello again and thank you for your replies... Constabulary: Yes I passed the thread through the "loop" before the tension discs. Wizcrafts: Today I have proved the solutions you suggested me and the machine works OK for the moment, but the thread seems to get up inside the tension discs although it does not come out. Uwe Report post Posted September 21, 2017 We also had a discussion recently where folks suggested a variation of the top threading, looping back through the same thread guide loop after going between the tension disks.
CarlosURSUS Report post Posted September 22, 2017 Wow Uwe, that seems to be the definitive solution!
