After seeing some cool elephant wallets I wanted to try some. I purchased 1 sq ft from Roje Leather. The texture is incredible. I was able to get 4 different sizes for wallets out of it. Here are the first two. 2 and 4 pocket card wallets. I used a 9tpi Blanchard pricking iron, Alran chèvre for the interiors and Lin Cable 632 thread. I use Fenice edge paint and sand to very a fine grit then buff with paraffin wax.

Elephant bifold in the works.

The finished bifold doesn't have a standard bill pocket but has plenty of room for bills behind the card panels. All the pockets have turned edges.

I shot a couple photos using some posterboard to get some studio quality pics. Worked pretty good.

Nice looking wallet and photos.  Did you use a light box?

Thanks. No, just the posterboard as the background and the lights in my bathroom and an iPhone 7.

The lighting in your photos is really good!  I made a simple light box out of a cardboard box, some lightweight white fabric and a couple of clamp on lights and they do a good job of eliminating shadows, but the end result is about the same as yours.  I’ll have to revisit my technique!

Your wallets look awesome!  I love the texture.  Also, I don't see on Roje's site where you can buy small pieces.  Do they do special orders for small amounts?

That looks very professional! How do you do a turned edge? And what kind and weight of leather did you use for the interior? Looks like pigskin.

Thank you. The texture is cool, unlike any other leather I've used.

I bought 1 sq ft of elephant for $60 but it looks like they don't currently offer 1 sq ft.

Thank you. For the pockets turned top edge I make a mark 1/2" and skive very thin, then use a straight edge and bone folder to fold 1/4" over and glue in place. The pockets top edge is then creased with an electric creasing iron. The interior is 2.5 oz Alran goatskin from France. I purchased it from Rocky Mountain Leather Supply.
