Best weight leather for a front pocket notebook cover?

I've been looking at a bunch of notebook covers for my "rite in the rain" notebook.  I have decided on what features I want and my design.  What would be the best weight veg tanned leather in your opinion/experience?

Hi,

I use 3-4 oz veg tan shoulders for A6 notebook covers and 4-5 oz veg tan shoulders for A5 notebook covers

that would depend on what you want to do with the front. any heavy tooling would require heaver weight leather. 

3-4 oz is a good weight that you can mold & do light tooling.

i wouldn't go any higher than 5 oz. And that may be pushing it.
