seabee Report post Posted February 6, 2018 Hi all, I have a question about belt lining and double layer belts? I bought some belt lining straps from Springfield Leather last year. The leather is great. My problem is that its wider than the belt blank. I tried using a strap cutter, but it hard to get an even straight cut. Mattsbagger Report post Posted February 6, 2018 Yep. Dye,stamp, tool whatever you are gonna do to the belt first. Then glue the back layer on. Up to where the belt slot is punched. Then you don't have to skive the turn back. If you don't dye the back side and just topcoat it you don't have to worry about any dye transfer/ruboff. Also punch the holes last.
