Moderator Johanna Posted June 21, 2007 Moderator Report Posted June 21, 2007 Ken...any chance of getting you to do some demos or maybe just post a scrap piece with the different types of stitches and what their names are, that you commonly use? It would be great if you would start a topic about decorative stitches and functional ones, and how much lace you can expect to use for each, and any other thing that comes into your head...hint hint You do great work, and I feel very qualified to say that because I love lacing and all the patterns. Not only is it attractive, you can charge more for items with it, and I find the work soothing and relaxing- it's just a pattern, like knitting or crocheting...right? LOL I wonder if some members may not realize the options we have to choose from like when you are designing a piece, or what goes into your considerations ( stress on seam, weight of leather, the way you pull all your designs together) I really appreciate the pics of the variety of work you do, and I know I'm not the only one who would love to learn more about how you do the magic you do. Thanks for sharing with us, Ken. Johanna Quote You cannot depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus. - Mark Twain

Ambassador Beaverslayer Posted June 21, 2007 Author Ambassador Report Posted June 21, 2007 Johanna, Yes I would be glad to do that for you and the others. I will put something together in the next little while and post it. As to the names of the stitches i use, the person that taught me didn't speak very good english, so in most cases i call them something other than what they really are. I will try to find out their real names first, that way if anyone purchases a lacing book they will know which ones I'm talking about. Bruce, BillyP & Jim, Thanks for the compliments, I as well like the way the finish turned out, it's just Saddle Tan Pro Dye, and it has 3 coats. JohnD Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 Very nice, Did you do the scales with a stamp or with a swivel knife? Quote (rdb):God looked down at the world, and said "See, right there in Witchita, next to the railroad tracks, I didn't put enough dandelions".
Ambassador Beaverslayer Posted June 28, 2007 Author Ambassador Report Posted June 28, 2007 Hey John, Thanks for the compliment. I did the scales with a swivel knife with a 1/4" filigree blade. Ken Quote Beaverslayer Custom Leather<br />Wearable Works of Art https://www.facebook...erCustomLeather
