A Big Shout out to All Stohlman.....

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, Friday night we lost power in a FEW tornado that hit our area. Luckily, we we're all ok. But power was out until Sunday at 6pm.

The wife and I spent Saturday and Sunday reading during the day. I finished off my copy of "Handmade Shoes for Men" by Vaas yesterday afternoon. While it is not a great 'how to' on shoemaking, it did have some nice tops, techniques, and explanations.

A few weeks ago I picked up some books from a saddle repaiman who is closing down and retiring. I got volumes 2 and 3 of Al Stohlman's caseaking books.

As I started to thumb thru volume 2 I realized he covers 20, count them 20 different handle styles in this book. He also covers zippers very well. Then he goes on to providing dimensions for 10 or 15 cases and formulas for book covers. He also has templates for accordian style gussets.

I am highly recommending this book.

It is really well done. I haven't looked over volume 3 yet, but I'm sure it's going to be great.

The lights were out for two hole days and all you and your wife could think of was “read”?

They must be very good books!

Those are great books to have - more for the PRINCIPLES than the actual projects.  50 years of experience in those.  I designed those coast guard charge books with info entirely from that series.

At half price, it was a total no brainer.
