over due tool rack

Recommended Posts

In anticipation of the arrival of my new Cowboy 3200 I decided to move some things around in my shop (10X12 Tuffshed). While I was doing that I found a old idea I had of making a tool rack out of a expandable plastic spice rack. Since then come hollow I filled it with expandable insulation foam from a spray can. I finally drilled some holes in, it works great. Not the prettiest girl at the ball but it will pick corn. About 100 tools in it right now and room for plenty more. Also a shot of my tooling, cutting bench, I have a chunk of granite I put up there when I am ready to tool. I will soon replace that with a 4X18X24 granite calibration plate I picked up at a hot rod swap meet a few years ago.

Once the Cowboy shows up I'll have a pretty good set up I think. Singer 111W155 for the lighter stuff and the Cowboy for holsters and heavy gun belts. One thing I noticed was as I get older I need more light. I'm tired of buying the 2 tube florescent shop lights I may see if I can find some LED track lighting on Craigslist.

Boy buy one sewing machine and  the work starts HA!

Looks like you have a nice space to work on leather and you will find more projects once you get your CB3200!

I find my biggest problem is cutting leather from a side - I don't have a nice big, EMPTY worktable, so I lay the hide on my pool table, layout the pattern, cut outside the pattern with leather shears, then take the smaller piece to my workbench to final trim to size.  I need to reclaim some basement space from my wife!

Way to go! Innovation is the mother of invention or however it goes! Companies charge way to much for a block of wood to hold the stamping tools.

A Cobra class 4 machine is my upcoming purchase although I really like the Cowboy 3200 and have watched lots of Youtube videos of their operation!

I am so tired of punching holes and had stitching, which takes forever!

I'm a Southern Calif boy, born in Lynwood, raised in Paramount, lived there and in Bellflower and Downey and then moved to Hemet, CA, before moving to Carthage, Missouri in 1999.

I miss the ocean so bad I can smell and taste it from here! I had a Ocean powerboat, Sailboat and Zodiac in several private Marina's from Huntington beach to Ventura. I deep sea fish and scuba and I really miss that!

I'm a Motorcyclist too, for the last 55 years and 85 motorcycles:)

Write a review of your new toy after you've taken it for a test spin.

Well I guess I have the shop/shed ready to set up the new Cowboy 3200. Now it's all about hurry up and wait (Just like the Army in 73).

I'm putting it right in the middle a little back of center. Did I just hear a truck pull up? No I didn't, still waiting but it isn't due till tomorrow. I just like getting new tools HA!
