Members Honzo Posted October 2, 2018 Members Report Posted October 2, 2018 I recently acquired a Consew 206RB-4. At least that’s what the tag says. All the paperwork and manuals that came with it all say RB5. It has a set # SH 1204506. My understanding is that there are a couple of Ser# prefixes. Is this in fact a Japanese made (assuming a bit better?) model. Quote
Members R8R Posted October 2, 2018 Members Report Posted October 2, 2018 I guess I would believe affixed equipment tags over paper? My understanding is later 206's are Chinese and the 4's or earlier (or Seiko's of the same type) are Japanese. Quote
DonInReno Posted October 3, 2018 Report Posted October 3, 2018 At least with guitars and dial micrometers, not everything shipped from China have tags that say made in China. Lol I’m sure if someone buys enough machines they will put whatever you want on the tag :-) Quote
Members Gregg From Keystone Sewing Posted October 3, 2018 Members Report Posted October 3, 2018 It's a Consew 206RB-4, serial number prefix SH. Preceding machine is a 206RB-4 TH prefix. There are many things that would identify this model that I could make note of. Easiest thing to note right away is the stitch length dial variation from the -5 to -4. See attached part book that covers 206RB-4 TH and SH prefix. Note the key and the variations in part numbers. 206RB-4 TH & SH.pdf Quote
Members Honzo Posted October 6, 2018 Author Members Report Posted October 6, 2018 Thank you Greg! Generally how are these machines? Anything I should expect that will be problematic?? Just keep the hook clean and the machine well lubricated. Quote
