Probably a couple of dumb questions...

Recommended Posts

Well here goes...

I just got a Singer 112w140 for upholstery and garment work. I'm changing it over to a servo motor. Can I add a switch to reverse the motor for a backstitch or rotate the hand wheel backwards for a backstitch? My gut tells me either way might be a problem

How well suited is a Singer 66 for upholstery leather? Add a roller foot?

No because the hook needs to turn the same clockwise direction to pickup new threads and make the knot so to speak.

Good day

Floyd

ps: There are some tips n tricks to lock the seam stitch, its been done for many years. This may even be in a singer ops manual.

Never back wheel with thread in the needle. You may get a nasty jam around the shuttle and bobbin case. Spin the work 180 degrees to backstitch.

A Singer 66 is a garment mending machine. It can only sew about 1/8 inch of soft leather with no more than #69 bonded thread, using a #18 needle.
