Nightshade Report post Posted October 9, 2018 Well here goes... I just got a Singer 112w140 for upholstery and garment work. I'm changing it over to a servo motor. Can I add a switch to reverse the motor for a backstitch or rotate the hand wheel backwards for a backstitch? brmax Report post Posted October 9, 2018 (edited) No because the hook needs to turn the same clockwise direction to pickup new threads and make the knot so to speak. Wizcrafts Report post Posted October 9, 2018 Never back wheel with thread in the needle. You may get a nasty jam around the shuttle and bobbin case. Spin the work 180 degrees to backstitch. A Singer 66 is a garment mending machine. It can only sew about 1/8 inch of soft leather with no more than #69 bonded thread, using a #18 needle.
