leather knot question

Hi Everyone!

 

This is my first post and I am hoping one of you will know what this knot is and how to tie it. I saw this not holding the clasp on a dog leash. The bleed or blood knot on the handle end is not a problem but I cannot figure out how to tie the clasp end. Any help would be very much appreciated!

Hi

That is not a knot as such, you make 2 cuts along the belt towards the end dividing it into thirds, that’s toward the end not right to the end, then after feeding through the buckle, or snap in this case, you twist the three pieces into loops and feed the belt length through them.

bit hard to describe without pictures but don’t have access to any right at the moment.

i learnt this as an aussie bushman/drovers belt, if you google those terms it should come up

I did a search and could not find anything. If you get time would you mind posting some pictures or better yet a video of you tying one.
