First time working with JE Sedgwick Bridle Leather

Recommended Posts

Making a journal and wondering if this cracking on the backside will be okay so far as longevity goes. I did skive down the middle on the inside to help with the fold.

8/9oz bridle leather from RockyMountainLeatherSupply

Thoughts?

It might just be to dry. Maybe try some neetsfoot oil?

Wow, really Sedgwicks?  I have some, and have bent it over backwards again and again and again,  and twisted it this way and that, pulled it as hard as I can, etc. and abused it trying to get it to fail, looks just fine after I did all that to it.  Can't imagine it cracking!  It's already pretty well full of oils and waxes.

Pre dyed, I don't know. if you used an alcohol based dye then it is the dye drying out the leather. use lots of neetsfoot oil first and maybe even some water to loosen up leather before you bend. as for now all you can do is use some oil and try to conceal the damage.
