Tool Supplier

I am getting into leather work and have minimal experience. I was wondering if anyone knew where to get cheap, mid-grade, and high-quality tools? I know of Tandy and Benny King tools but was curious if anyone had somewhere else they would buy from?

This is a really well thought out kit. It has just about everything to get started. Even comes with a poundo board and cutting mat. 

These aren't top of the line but are a good cut above stuff from Tandy. 

I don't have all these tools, but I do have the wing divider and hole punches. They are stellar.

I have made several purchased from Wuta. They have always been great to deal with. Now it takes a minute for shipping to the us.

So, in the meantime you can pick up a copy of Al Stohlman's Leather Tools and a copy of the The Art of Sewing.

Both are super informative and fun to read.

Just to avoid misconception here Tandy is certanly not high quality tools, I wouldn't even say mid-grade. At least not the things I bought, which was far from cheap.

Diamond hole chisel set = THICK prongs coated in paint, and so far from sharp it can be. Maybe they work if you do holsters or larger things with really thick thread (After you removed the paint from prongs and sharpened them.

Mini leather punch set = Took a lot of time to reshape them and make them cut. The "cutting edge" is around 0.3mm (Bad picture, but it's not possible to use without sharpening. Unless you punch like crazy and the hole would look awful.

 

 

This is the smallest, and look at the size of the secondary bevel I hade to make before it was sharp. (Yes I could spend more time and polish for a better cut, but I don't use these tools.

A couple of additions to my comment.

I fully understand not everyone has the budget for buying Ksblade punches, handmade edge bevelers, fileteuse and such.

There are no need to buy really expensive tools. 

Let's give a couple of examples on good hole punches.

A step up would be Lc Diamond from Leathercrafttools (Same tool as Seiwa?)

Kyoshin Elle edge bevelers from Goodsjapan is in my opinion really good, and I'm happy with them.

I have also seen people doing really good creases with Wutas manual creasers (Heat over alcohol lamp)

Those look good. And since the ”shank” is round they are easy to sharpen in a lathe or drill chuck.

Just a thought, but you might want to approach Johanna about buying some ads, rather than spamming the threads..in the other thread that you just posted into, the guy in Cyprus said in his OP that he was only there for a few days..he's hardly likely to order from the UK whilst he is there for a few days then..and then be gone when the items arrive..there is "keen" and there is spamming..and then there is asking Johanna about advertising..
