Spots in leather after dye

Recommended Posts

Are these spots in the leather normal after dying cheaper leather? Think this is Tandy craftsman.

If this is not normal it could be that the spots are from how I wet the leather using a spray bottle before dying? 2EC7AD2B-3A08-407C-86E9-7FFA4B0356F4.jpeg.755e59dd4732cfa04c065b00a00fa6f5.jpeg

It's the leather. You may try oxacilic (spelling?) acid to clean the next batch before dying, but I doubt it will help.

This is just why good leather costs more.

Also, note how when items are cut to exact final size before dyeing, they aren't so much after dyeing! Cut a bit oversize, dye and dry, then cut to final size. Hope this helps.
