Members sunyjim Posted February 11, 2019 Members Report Posted February 11, 2019 (edited) First try at a leather bag for the motorcycle. I copied a poor quality ebay leatherette model that was ok size. It's veg tan leather died black with Fiebings black oil dye, and then finished with bees wax melted into the leather, and some TanKote. Edited February 11, 2019 by sunyjim Quote
Members hawgrider Posted February 11, 2019 Members Report Posted February 11, 2019 The bag looks great! Now before you go for a ride you may want to avoid the mistake I made. I had a FLSTC Heritage Softail and like an idiot I put a roll tool bag on just like you are doing and I went for a ride and the first big bump I hit the fender took a nice big dent from the roll bag full of tools. Moral of the story I replaced the fender with new and it wasn't cheap. Hope I saved you from making the same mistake. Quote

Members kiwican Posted March 1, 2019 Members Report Posted March 1, 2019 Nice. Your ends caps look good. Did you use a mold or did you form by hand ? Quote
Members sunyjim Posted January 24, 2020 Author Members Report Posted January 24, 2020 Kiwican, sorry for the late reply. I found a lid to some deck screws that was perfect size and squished the wet leather down into the lid and let it dry Quote
