Members Koivu Posted March 5, 2019 Members Report Posted March 5, 2019 I inherited these old skins and they might be home tanned and probably from the 1940-1950... what would you do with them? How might I start softening, they are as hard as card board! Or should I just chuck them out? Quote
Members chrisash Posted March 5, 2019 Members Report Posted March 5, 2019 Try a small area test with a good coating of pure neatsfoot oil, it may give some life and nothing ventured nothing gained, it will darken the leather somewhat, you could also try a good make conditioner Quote Mi omputer is ot ood at speeling , it's not me
Members Koivu Posted March 5, 2019 Author Members Report Posted March 5, 2019 Thank you. I’m going to try it right away. Let’s see what happens. I’m pondering, if the leather has lost its durability over time.. but there’s I guess only one way to find out. Quote
