superpacker Report post Posted May 1, 2019 If I'm stamping a belt, and I want to come in .25" from the edge to start my stamping, I know there are, in theory, a lot of ways I could make this reference line: scroll knife, creaser, wing divider. Each of these would make a line differently, and I wasn't sure if one is preferable.
Rockoboy Report post Posted May 4, 2019 For a reference line, not a part of the design, I would use a set of dividers, or 2nd choice would be a scratch awl with a straight edge. All you will see is a faint scratch which will disappear in the stamping and/or carving.
JLSleather Report post Posted May 4, 2019 The best tool for the job is the one you will USE. IF you're comfortable with it, that's the one. Wait for it... some a@@ will be here in a minute to sell you a new tool to do that with and sign you up for a paid class on how to use it
