All the models I have made

Recommended Posts

In my presentation, I showed the Heart Moccasins I made. Here, I'll give you an overview of the main patterns I use to make.

The Heart Moccasins design is a very beautiful adaptation of a side-seem indigenous style. It is minimalist and elegant. I particularly like this design because it is very well optimized in terms of manufacturing. We have only one piece of leather that wraps around the feet with a very short stitch. For me, it's a perfect example of a good product design. When you put your feet next to each other, it draws a heart shape

The Moon Moccasins are very similar to the Heart moccasins. This style is a more classic shape with its rounded tongue. It is also optimized to stay one piece of leather with very little stitching to do. Instead of cutting the tongue rounded, it can be pointy, square or of any other shape that you like…

The Leaf is a beautiful two-colored version of the moon moccasins that I . It implies a little more stitching, but the top part can be often cut in off-cuts of leather when no other patterns can fit-in. It has a little wider toe-box. This design will be more comfortable for people that like having more space for their toes. It’s not so adapted for people that have pointy feet.

The V-shaped Moccasins are an interesting model because it is very easy to design it from a footprint. No matter what shape of feet people have. I use it when I need to design shoes for people that have bunions or even have had accidents. and need a special design. With this pattern, we can adapt it to the unique shape of their feet. It is very compact in use of leather but it requires about 3 to 4 times more stitching than the Heart Moccasins. It is very comfortable like the other designs while protecting the ankle a bit more as it comes up a little higher.

The Sun Sandals, these are the closest to sandals and instead of being stitched, they are only cut and put together by the lace through punched holes. It is a very ancient historical design that was worn by Romans a lot.  It is the easiest design to make but not the easiest pattern to conceive. The petals can be cut or just folded when using soft leather. When folded, it prevents rocks and sand to enter in the shoe… These patterns come out of a long history of Native American and Scandinavian footwear and were adapted to suit our modern use and fashion.

I'll post later the diffrent kind of leather boots I have created.
