Members SilverForgeStudio Posted August 8, 2019 Members Report Posted August 8, 2019 Hello folks! Trying to sew some canvas and webbing bags with lightweight (2-4oz) veg-tan trim and accents. I have been using an older singer 15 Japanese clone. 1- the stitches are too close aesthetically. 2- the poor ol' gal is giving it her best but Im running into an issue with her bogging down in the webbing+canvas+2oz doubled. There is a Brother S 7200A-433 available near me for pretty near dirt cost+ gas to go get it. So- Im asking if this is anything like a decent webbing machine with canvas- it has a stitch operation for box/"X" and bartacking- but Im not sure if it matters as I am using seatbelt webbing- and if this machine is used to sewing lighter (not as tight) woven nylons then its a moot point to buy the machine. I've been asked about pictures- and yes I would love to show some, however I am working under contract for a makerspace and as such these designs are not my own and Im not able to show the product(s). Sorry about this. Im working in my "own" space this fall so hopefully pics to come! But for now- Any thoughts on the S7200 for webbing? Quote
Members DrmCa Posted August 8, 2019 Members Report Posted August 8, 2019 Fine for webbing, not so fine for leather. It is a straight lockstitch while you need a walking foot. Quote
