Landis 12

Good afternoon.  I am not sure if this is the proper place to ask this, but I am helping my stepfather sell a few vintage items that he got in a flip house he purchased.  One is a Landis 12  machine.  I have researched and am still a bit at a loss. I can't find one like this in images and the numbers I have don't seem to help me at all.  I am attaching some photos. . . any help is appreciated. I am located in Central Virginia and would also be interested in learning about the appropriate outlets to attempt to sell. Or does it look like we would be better off scrapping this one.  The photos are not great, as I was working in very limited space when I took them.

If you want to list this machine for sale, it needs to go into our Marketplace section, under sewing and stitching equipment > used. You will need to post better photographs of the business area of the machine and your asking price, plus the terms of sale and location.

Here is an example of a proper listing in the Used sewing equipment forum. Coincidentally, it is for the same make of machine you are dealing with.

Thank you Wizcrafts, I was not trying to list it for sale. I was simply hoping to find out more about it and if it is worth trying to clean up to sell . . .I haven't found anyone in my area with any knowledge these types of things and frankly, my internet searches haven't turned up much of anything.  If someone knew of someone in Central VA that might be able to come help us test it to see if it still works, we would be willing to pay for assistance.  I am just not sure if we should carry it to the scrap yard or try to do something with it.

@bcklsh Does it still have the shroud on top with the letter model? It looks like it's older than the 12 E model. Landis usually puts the letter on the base so it's easy to tell the model but clearly this does not. The fact that it doesn't have that and the only letter is on the little door. It could be a model C. If you check the plate with the serial number it should start with a letter that represents the model. @Wizcrafts do you know if Landis ever made a model C? I know of E, F, G, K, & L.

If you're not familiar with the machine it will be a difficult fixer up. Does the machine at least turn if you manually move the flywheels? 

You could start by looking for any shoe repair shops in and around you. They will most likely have experience to at least check the machine out for you.

That Landis 12 machine is a shoe sole stitcher. It will probably only be useful to a shoe repair shop, or maybe a new shoe maker. It only sews around outsoles, like on dress shoes and Cowboy boots. You could lookup all shoe repair shops within a couple hundred miles and see if one of them will come and get it.
